Fred serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Fluid Operations for the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association based in Reston, Virginia with sales exceeding $300 million in 2008.  Fred has the overall responsibility for fluid operations at three processing facilities - Marva Maid Newport News, VA; Marva Maid Landover, MD; and Maola Milk & Ice Cream in New Bern, N.C.

Prior to joining the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association, Fred served in various management roles at National Dairy Holdings: General Manager at Valley Rich, VP and Division Manager for Flavor Rich and Velda Farms. Fred developed Brookshire Grocery Company’s Manufacturing division, and prior to that, he was with the Southland Corporation.  Fred has over 30 years of experience in the dairy industry.

In 2009, Fred received the International Dairy Foods Association’s GrassRoots Action Network for Dairy (GRAND) Pioneer Award on behalf of The Maryland and Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association which was awarded for their political involvement activities on priority dairy issues.

In 2001, Fred created the patented LeCarb, the first nationally distributed low-carbohydrate frozen dessert at Southwest Foods, a division of Brookshire Grocery Company.  LeCarb grew to include dairy drinks, cultured products and frozen novelties. LeCarb was chosen as Dairy Foods magazine’s New Products of 2003.

Fred currently serves as Chairman and Board Member on the Virginia Milk Commission.  He also serves as a Board Member of the Maryland Dairy and Oversight Council by Gubernatorial Appointment.

Fred holds a B.S. degree in Dairy Science from the University of Arkansas.
