The New Year is upon us and it is time to bring full focus on our 2017 tasks. Our end-of-year report which you received in December summed up 2016, so instead of looking back, let's take some time and look forward at the work that needs to be done.

First on our 2017 calendar of events is the FPSA Annual Conference, March 15th - 17th in warm and sunny southern California. This year there will be an array of very engaging general sessions, and even more time for Council networking, one of the most important aspects of Conference. Featured processing speakers will include the following with many others being added to the agenda.

While you have your 2017 calendar open, there is another date I would like you to save, the 2017 PROCESS EXPO Operations Conference, June 7th - 8th in Chicago. This conference will go over all aspects of the show, will feature operations workshops, and allow you and your staff to visit with the vendors you will be working with at PROCESS EXPO in September. This was a well-attended event in 2015, and with all the new show floor activities being added this year you will want to prepare even earlier this year. As in past years, there will be no charge to attend the event.

Of course it goes without saying, that the premier event for 2017 is PROCESS EXPO, September 19th - 22nd, at McCormick Place in Chicago. This year's show promises to be our best attended event ever. In that regard we have already initiated a number of promotional campaigns for attendance and registration has already opened. Furthermore, we are offering a wide range of pre-show promotional tools for our exhibitors such as the "Exhibitor Invites" program. Your vital assistance in this program will enhance our efforts in securing both the "right" and additional attendees at the show. Additionally, show sponsorship opportunities are currently available. Remember, recognition begins as soon as you sign up, so contact Grace gyee@fpsa.org and secure your sponsorship today.

I also urge you to take advantage of all FPSA has to offer you. We have just added another great affinity program to our current list of cost-savings services. You will soon receive information on how to save on office and computer suppliers as well as UPS shipping. Please take advantage of these new membership benefits as well as those currently in place. This year we will be continuing our highly regarded quarterly webinar series that our Councils have identified, and we will soon be launching a new association website. Likewise, we are always searching for additional individuals to serve on our Committees and Council Boards - please let us know of your interest. And finally, in 2017 the Foundation of the Food Processing Suppliers Association will be awarding 15 Career Development Scholarships of $5000 each to full-time employees of FPSA member companies and their immediate families. Funds are applied to educational expenses at any accredited college or university. The application period is now open so remember to advise your employees of this incredible opportunity.
