Tom Imbordino Dairy Science Scholarship
About
Created in 2021, the Tom Imbordino Memorial Dairy Science Scholarship honors the legacy of Tom Imbordino, a founding member of our Dairy Council and longtime advocate for dairy industry education.
Scholarships are awarded annually to students pursuing careers in dairy or food science. This program specifically supports junior and senior undergraduates and graduate students in Dairy and Food Science programs.
The Details
Purpose:
This is to encourage and support those interested in pursuing careers within the dairy or food industry or engineering field. The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of the following criteria: academic performance, commitment to a career in the dairy or food industry, as well as leadership potential.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be junior- or senior-level undergraduate students or master's or Ph.D. candidates enrolled in dairy science, food science, or a related field at an accredited university physically located in the United States or Canada. Citizenship is not a selection factor. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, commitment to a career in the dairy or food industry and demonstrated leadership potential.
2026 Program Details:
FPSA and the Dairy Council will award two (2) $3,600 scholarships to support students pursuing careers in dairy or food science. One scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student, and one scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student. These non-renewable scholarships can help cover tuition, fees, books, supplies, and required equipment at accredited U.S. colleges and universities.

What is the selection criteria?
An independent selection committee made up of individuals from FPSA's Dairy Council review applications and rate applications based on the following criteria:
- Academic performance
- Commitment to a career in Dairy
- Leadership potential
One scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student, and one scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student. Decisions from the selection committee are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given.

How and when are the funds issued?
Your funds will be issued via check at the end of August. You will need to accept the award, submit a Scholarship Payment Information Form and return it to FPSA. Once received, your scholarship funds will be mailed directly to your institution via check. Your scholarship check cannot be made payable to you, the applicant.
