Ferrarini USA, Inc., of Secaucus, NJ, is recalling approximately 70 pounds of ready-to-eat sliced prosciutto products that were imported without undergoing required import reinspection, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The issue was identified when a federal establishment informed FSIS that the prosciutto, imported on April 21, 2025, was shipped without proper reinspection.
FSIS is concerned that some prosciutto may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or pantries.
Recalled products:
- 4-oz. vacuum-sealed plastic tray packages containing slices of “FERRARINI PROSCIUTTO DI PARMA PRODUCT OF ITALY” with lot code “2527642” on the backside label.
- The product bears the Italy establishment number “IT 713 L CE” within the Italian mark of inspection on the front of the package.
These products were distributed to retail locations in California.
As of the recall announcement, no confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been linked to these products.
Consumers are urged not to consume the product and should either discard it or return it to the place of purchase. Those concerned about potential illness should contact a healthcare provider.
