McLean, VA – The Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) today announced that its Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance Foundation (MISAF) raised over $125,000 on Thursday, March 10th during the Foundation Banquet and Auction held at the FPSA Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs, Florida. These funds are used to support the MISA Foundation’s Scholarship Program for deserving students studying meat sciences at universities throughout North America.
“This year’s event was truly exceptional with nice increases in both attendance and interest in the Foundation’s mission,” said Tom Hoffmann, Chairman of the MISA Foundation. “The results of this year’s auction are critical to supporting the scholarship program which has enjoyed tremendous popularity among students in the nation’s top meat science departments.”
“This year, the MISA Foundation will be using the monies raised to provide $10,000 scholarships to worthy students.” said FPSA President and CEO David Seckman. “Through this program, it has been our honor to assist some of the industry’s most promising students to achieve their educational goals and ultimately, guide them towards a career in the meat industry.”
The Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors who take an active role in the review and selection of scholarship winners. For more information on the Meat Industry Supplier Alliance contact David Seckman at 703-663-1200 or dseckman@fpsa.org.
