Shape the Future of Hygienic Design: 3-A SSI Calls for Equipment Manufacturers to Collaborate on Key Standards Updates

Original Article

MCLEAN, VA —The standards that govern sanitary equipment design are being updated—and the manufacturers who build that equipment should have a seat at the table. 3-A SSI is recruiting engineers, product managers, and technical leads for five working groups that will update standards for Silo Tanks, Batch Processors, Disc-Type Valves, Conveyors and Air Pressure.

Applications close April 27. Working groups will launch May 11.

"We heard the industry clearly: experts want to contribute, but they need a defined finish line," says Meri Beth Wojtaszek, Executive Director. “To respect your time, every 2026 project features a fixed scope, a dedicated coordinator to handle administrative logistics, and a December publication target. 3-A SSI is asking for your technical expertise, not your paperwork.”

3-A SSI will host a free 30-minute virtual information session on April 17 at 1 pm EST for prospective working group volunteers. The session will outline project plans, meeting schedules, and the role of the working group coordinator, followed by an open Q&A.

This is a chance for equipment manufacturers to come together with food processors and regulators to directly influence the technical language in standards updates – and how the standards affect operations for the foreseeable future.
