It’s just not the same.

I was on a webinar earlier this week. The topic was excellent, the speaker clearly managed the topic and even was able to impart some lessons, and yet it wasn’t the same as sitting in a live session.

Maybe it was the fact that I wasn’t able to ignore the incoming email. Maybe I didn’t need to look at how the Dow is doing. Maybe when my colleague knocked on my door, I should have ignored her.

It’s probably all of that but I think what it comes down to is, 18+ months after we heard of COVID, we’ve seen more than our fair share of webinars. In speaking with colleagues from other companies, they agree and are seeing the same webinar fatigue, whether as organizers or as audience. I guess that is why I really am looking forward to attending the sessions at PROCESS EXPO.

Not only do these sessions tackle extremely important issues within today’s food and beverage industry, they are live sessions where I won’t be distracted and will get the opportunity to meet and speak with the experts during or after their presentation. Sure, I could do that during a webinar but it’s just not the same.

PROCESS EXPO has always been about providing manufacturing solutions for the industry. For most, that means equipment on the show floor, of which there will be much to look at in a few weeks. However, I am just as interested in seeing the human resources available to us, in the form of these speakers who can address today’s critical issues and offer up solutions that we weren’t even aware of.
