McLean, VA – The Foundation of the Food Processing Suppliers Association (FFPSA) today announced the recipients of fifteen $5,000 Career Development Scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year. The winners of these scholarships are employees of FPSA member companies and family members and  include: Michelle Saganich (Baumer Ltd), Alison Reust (Cybertrol Engineering),  Victoria Langro (Festo Corporation), Claire Kredit (Interstates), Jack Monte (JBT), Lauren Stricek (Lee Industries, Inc), Alexandra Bowie (Multivac, Inc), Abbey Price (Multivac, Inc), Alyssa Schumacher (Provisur Technologies), Sarah Abushamma (Poly-clip System), Whitney Rylatt (Poly-clip System), Joseph Giacoio (Rheon USA), Ivee Richesin (Viskase Corporation), Socrates Pham (Whiting-Turner Contracting Co), and Nicholas Yager (Whiting-Turner Contracting Co). These winners were selected from a pool of 124 well qualified applicants for this year’s scholarship program.

“We are proud to recognize the achievements of this outstanding group of young students and happy to assist them in continuing their education,” said Tom Kittle, Chairman of the FPSA Foundation and President of Handtmann, Inc and Handtmann Canada Ltd. “The FPSA membership is full of impressive individuals looking to expand their knowledge and build careers that will help not just themselves but our industry and others. The Career Development Scholarship program helps to make our family members’ educational dreams a reality and assists this next generation in what we know will be long and successful careers. We congratulate the winners on their achievements and look forward to what comes next. We thank all those who applied and encourage all eligible individuals to apply again when the application period for the 2021-2022 academic year opens in January 2021,” added Chairman Kittle.

The Foundation of FPSA established the Career Development Scholarship Program in 2005 as a unique benefit to the members of FPSA. It is designed to promote the career and professional development of FPSA member employees who work full time and their immediate family members. Since its inception in 1983, the FPSA Foundation has focused on supporting the growth of the food industry. Over this period, it has touched the lives of well over 2,000 individuals in the early years of their careers through its grants, scholarships and stipends. Many of these individuals are now employed in food, dairy and meat science programs in the nation’s universities, in major food and beverage processing companies, and many in FPSA member companies.
